Carlisle

The Cullen family is a coven of 7 vampires.  They pretend to be a normal family, acting as adopted brother and sister.

Carlisle Cullen is the "adoptive father" of Alice, Edward, Emmett, Jasper, and Rosalie; he is husband to Esme Cullen.
Carlisle was born in London, England during the 1640s. He was born to an Anglican pastor during the time of religious persecution. After his change, Carlisle tried desperately to destroy himself because he was so repulsed by what he was. He tried to starve himself but the compulsion to feed was too strong. He eventually fed on a herd of deer passing by.
Carlisle changed Edward after his mother begged him to save the boy. Later, in 1921, he changed Esme after being brought into the morgue with her heart still beating but thought dead - after a suicide attempt.
Carlisle is described as young (he was 23 when he was changed), very handsome, has blond hair, is 6'2" and has the "vampire gold and black" eyes. His profession, a doctor, shows his strength and ability to resist blood.

Esme Cullen is married to Carlisle Cullen and is the adoptive mother to Edward, Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett. She was brought into the Cullen family after Edward. After losing her son to a lung infection, Esme tried to commit suicide by jumping from a cliff (Edward tells Bella she "fell") and is changed by Carlisle, becoming the second person he changed. She is very loving and accepts Bella immediately grateful for helping and being there for the first time for Edward.

Edward Anthony Masen Cullen was born to parents Elizabeth and Edward Masen on June 20, 1901. While suffering severely of the Spanish Influenza in Chicago 1918, at age 17, a mysterious young doctor, Carlisle Cullen, transformed him into a vampire to save him. Both of Edward's parents had succumbed to the Spanish Influenza pandemic prior to his "rebirth". He currently resides in Forks, Washington with his adoptive vampire family: parents Esme and Carlisle, and siblings Alice Cullen, Emmett Cullen, Rosalie Hale and Jasper Hale. Against his better judgment, Edward fell deeply in love with Bella Swan, a human. Initially, it was the unique, aroma of her blood that hungrily ensnared his attention. In consequence, the dormant beast residing within him awakened . . . nearly destroying him, and ultimately all that he and his family had worked so desperately to conceal. Edward's fascination for the "danger-magnet," Bella, abruptly evolves into an indefinable passionate love and adoration. However, Bella's abnormal attraction for danger heavily weighs upon Edward's conscience. He finds himself saving her from being hit by Tyler Crowley's car in the school parking lot and then again in Port Angles from four strange men. After the Port Angles incident he and Bella are forever inseparable. Edward finds himself unable to stay away and is soon showing Bella his vampire "powers" and introducing her to his family. Edward can hear people's thoughts, but finds it very odd and unexplainable that he cannot hear Bella's. He's pretty peeved that Bella actually wants to become a vampire, and always refuses when she asks him to do so. As much of a "perfect boyfriend" he is, Edward still has many flaws. 1.) He's overprotective. 2.) He is very stubborn in more ways than one both for the good and the worse(For those of you who have read Eclipse. **WinkWink**) 3.) He is afraid he will hurt Bella in one way or another, and fears about getting too close to her in the days to come when he saves her from Tyler Crowley's speeding van in the Forks High School parking lot.

Alice Cullen (born Mary Alice Brandon) is the "adoptive" sister of Edward Cullen. At 4'10", the petite and bubbly Alice is a sprightly, witty girl who is described as pixie-like in stature, with dark short-cut black hair. She and Edward are the closest of the Cullen siblings. Alice's human history was for much a time unknown. When Alice was transformed, she awoke alone and without any memory of her previous human life. It is later revealed that she was born around 1901 in Biloxi, Mississippi and was kept in an asylum due to spontaneous premonitions. Alice was changed by a mature ("old") male vampire who worked at the asylum in order to protect her from the ravenous James, a tracker vampire keen on hunting her. Following her transformation, her unique power of foresight had intensified. Immediately, she began having visions of being lead to her love Jasper, a fellow vampire seeking a more meaningful existence, and ultimately a family: Carlisle's coven. It was in a small Philadelphian diner in which their paths finally crossed. He approached her and she offered him her hand, a non-verbal question of "will you come with me?" Though puzzled, Jasper recognized that she was his answer and more importantly his future. Taking her hand, the sight of it brought him hope "for the first time in almost a century." During their companionship and travels, they fell in love. Their emotional based love is what separates them from other couples, and they are both very protective of one another.

By 1950, they found Carlisle with more assistance from her visions. Alice and Jasper have been apart of his coven ever since. They are stated to be soul mates and have been married legally.

Jasper Whitlock-Cullen (although to his non-family he is known as Jasper Hale) was born in 1844 and joined the Confederate Army at 17, saying he was 20. He was quickly promoted through the ranks. By the 1st Battle of Galveston "twenty"-year-old Jasper was the youngest major in Texas. He was in charge of evacuating women and children when the Union reached the harbor.

That night, on his way out of the city, he saw three women (Nettie, Maria and Lucy). Vampires. They soon decided that he would be great for their newborn vampire army.

Once the poison had run it's course, he was taught to fight other newborn vampires. He soon found out the southern vampire world was at war, arguing over human hunting grounds. He also found out he could change the emotions of people around him--calm an angry room, sooth a crying baby.

The newborn vampires that he created with Maria would have to be destroyed after they became a year old; because they were no use as soldiers without the increased strength from their transformation. Maria always made the killing his job, Jasper hated it and he had to feel the terror of everyone he destroyed, with that; he became depressed.

Several years passed when he came across one newborn that showed initiative and confidence, the best fighter he'd seen so far. His name was Peter and his job became helping Jasper with killing off the un-needed one year old vampires. When a vampire name Charlotte's time came to be annihilated, Peter loved her and Jasper let them run away. Jasper could not bring himself to kill them, he had grown attached.

After five years Peter and Charlotte came back and told Jasper of a life with no battles or war zones. Believing he could be happier away from the atmosphere that smothered his better nature, he left. He then went to live with Charlotte and Peter as Nomads. But he always became depressed after feedng. He left after a period of time.

After going into a diner in Philadelphia one day, he saw Alice Brandon. She told him she was a vampire who could see the future. She saw them joining a family called the Cullens. For the first time in a century he felt hope.

Jasper currently resides in Forks, Washington with Alice as his wife with the rest of the Cullens.

He has the hardest time keeping the "vegetarian" diet that his family keeps to, due to the fact that he was used to drinking human blood whenever he wanted during the Southern Vampire Wars.

He has countless crescent moon shaped scars all over his body from the countless times he was at battle and newborns bit him.

Emmett McCarty was born in 1915 and was changed into a vampire by Carlisle Cullen in 1935. Emmett is married to Rosalie Hale, another member of the Cullen family. Emmett was changed and adopted into the Cullen family after being discovered by Rosalie; he was being attacked by a grizzly bear when found by his future wife. Emmett drives a red Jeep Wrangler and now lives in Forks, Washington. He and Rosalie spend much of their time traveling away from the Cullens as a married couple.

Emmett is described as being very tall, muscular, and very intimidating. He stands at 6'5" and is the tallest of all the Cullens. He has curly, dark brown hair

Rosalie Hale was born to a middle-class family in 1915. When she was 18, the Great Depression hit the US. Her father had a stable job in a bank. Her parents were social climbers. Rosalie, who was extraordinarily beautiful, was the ticket they needed to reach their social aspiration. She was clearly the favorite of her parents, with two younger brothers.

Meanwhile, Rosalie dreamed of a lavish life--a life with a rich husband and children as beautiful as she was. Her parents influenced her want of material things. She wanted a big house that someone else would clean, with a large lawn that she would play with her children on.

In Rochester, where she grew up, there was only one family that had what her parents wanted--the Kings. Royce King owned the bank Rosalie's father worked in. His son, Royce II, and Rosalie began dating. It was a quick courtship and the couple was soon engaged. The engagement went quickly too and wedding plans were made.

Rosalie couldn't help but feel something was missing from her relationship with him. She soon began wanting what her good friend Vera had--a husband who wasnt necessarily rich, but one that loved her and was there for her, and a small baby they could raise together lovingly.

One night she went to Vera's, and while walking home she realized how late it was and she wished that she had thought to call her father to escort her. On the way, she saw several drunken men. One turned out be Royce. Showing her off to his friends, he ripped pins from her hair. When she cried out in pain, the men seemed to enjoy it. They proceeded to beat and then rape her.

They left her dying in the street. Carlisle Cullen found her. Rosalie had never likes Dr. Cullen or his wife and her brother, as Edward then pretended to be. It bothered her that the family was more beautiful then she was. Dr. Cullen, who turned out to be a vampire, saved Rosalie that night by turning her into a vampire. The "vegetarian" family only drank the blood of animals. Soon after becoming a vampire she killed Royce and his friends--careful not to spill a drop of blood. Rosalie prides herself on never having drunk human blood.

Two years later she saw Emmett being mauled by a bear and ran him back to Carlisle. She begged for him to save the dying Emmett, who reminded her of Vera's little boy, by changing him into a vampire. The two were soon married.

Rosalie and Emmett currently reside in Forks, Washington, but they often live away from the family as a married couple. Rosalie is the only one of the Cullens (except Carlisle) to keep her last name, on account of her not wanting to be a vampire.
